It’s been a busy few months for 1st Tarporley Scouts! The whole Group recently took part in a charity bag pack for Macmillan Cancer Support at Morrisons in Winsford. Fourteen young people took part (Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, plus a co-opted Brownie!), as well as many parents, exec members and leaders. Not many shoppers actually wanted their bags packing (“I have a system!”) but so many generously donated to the cause anyway, raising an amazing £630.41!!
The Beavers visited ShareShop in Chester, donating items they had collected for the homeless. They also gave £2 each for a “suspended hot drink”; a hot drink which the ShareShop van later distributes to those in need. They each wrote a message on the sleeve that goes around the cup. And finally they each bought a brick which will be used to build a house to help get people off the streets and eventually back into work.
Portal Pack Cubs went to Mid Cheshire Food Bank in Winsford to learn more about their fantastic service and donate the food they’d been collecting – a total of 87.2kg.
And Maverick Explorers donated gloves, socks, toiletries, toothbushes, sweets and chocolates, which were used to make up three gift boxes. These were donated to the Soup Kitchen in Crewe which provides a hot meal to vulnerable people once a week.
