Christmas Lights Event – Saturday 1st December
The Tarporley Christmas Lights event will be on Saturday 1st December from 6pm to 7.30pm. This year, the event will take place between the entrance to St Helen’s Church and the 4 shops set back off the High Street opposite The Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop. Also, the way the village is lit up for Christmas is going to be different this year.
Parking – An update
Time limited parking on the High Street (and the 2 hour limit) has been introduced after extensive consultation from 2016 and is achieving its goal of freeing up short stay parking for shoppers on the High Street.
The Parish Council shares your concerns about the parking situation in Tarporley and is working with Cheshire West & Chester Council (CW&C) to determine what can be done to improve the situation.
CW&C is currently undertaking analysis of parking residence times throughout the village – including the Rising Sun Car Park – to facilitate further considerations relating to parking in Tarporley. No further decisions will be made until that work is done.
There are currently no plans to introduce parking charges on the Rising Sun Car Park but charging and/or time limits are clearly options to affect parking behaviour.
The Parish Council, through the Neighbourhood Plan, has secured a new 32 space car park on the site of the old RBL building that should be open in the coming months.
Parking at the community centre is now limited to 3 hours and the High School has considerably extended their on-site parking. This means that there are now nearly always spaces at the Community Centre car park.
Following consultation with Tarporley Residents and Businesses and in accordance with the Neighbourhood Plan, the Parish Council has indicated its support in principle to the proposal to build a care home and 88 space public car park off the High Street. Additional work is needed on the proposal before it can proceed to the next stage
Parking enforcement is the responsibility of CW&C and whilst we would always wish to see more enforcement, it can never be 100%. Enforcement does take place in Tarporley but the Parish Council is writing to CW&C to request more attention to the new parking restrictions.
CPR/Defibrillator Training at the Tarporley Community Centre
A number of people in the Tarporley area have expressed an interest in learning how to use a Defibrillator (AED) and how to deliver CPR. The Tarporley Community Centre have in the past put on courses to enable this to happen. In the New Year to satisfy demand, the Community Centre will be organising a further course/s. If you are interested in learning these vital life-saving skills please contact Mrs Linda Martin. Email – email@example.com
