Five year 13 pupils at Tarporley High School have just returned from an inspirational week exploring the Renaissance period, producing ambitious costumes and drawing from the Tuscan landscape having been successful in securing a place on the prestigious Italian Art education tour for Cheshire schools.
Pupils Emily Ball, Amy Beaumont, Sophie Helsby, Lucy Phillipson and Anna Steward all submitted applications back in May this year and following a rigorous interview with a scrutiny of their portfolio all five pupils were offered a place on the tour.
Many pupils who attend the tour which has run since 1984 have used the opportunity as a springboard to gain places at Ruskin, Oxford and the Royal Academy, London.
Anna said: “It was an amazing experience, one that will stay with me forever.”
Following the week immersed in Italy pupils Amy Beaumont and Sophie Helsby were awarded Best Sketchbook award in their respective groups and Lucy Phillipson was awarded Best Costume award.
