Saturday 1st December

Kelsall Methodist Church is the venue for the Grand Christmas Craft fair, from 2-5pm. Many stalls including arts and crafts, Christmas gifts, fresh floral decorations, chocolate stall, a variety of children’s activities and delicious cakes and hot drinks. Free entry.

 

Saturday 1st December

The Tarporley Christmas Lights event is on from 6pm to 7.30pm. This year, the event will take place between the entrance to St Helen’s Church and the four shops set back off the High Street.

Tattenhall Lantern Parade, followed by refreshments in the Barbour Institute, Tattenhall.

 

Friday 7th December
Huxley Christmas Bingo Night. BBC Bingo with prizes of Birds, Booze and Confectionery

The War Memorial Hall, Duddon will be holding a Grand Christmas Quiz, starting at 8pm, entry will be £5 and there will be a buffet, bar and raffle.

 

Saturday 15th December

Bunbury Singers host a Night of Christmas Carols and Festive Music, in Aid of St Luke’s Hospice, 7.30pm, at St Boniface Church, Bunbury. Tickets £8 includes seasonal refreshments, available from: St Luke’s Hospice, Tilly’s Coffee Shop, Bunbury, Burrows Butchers, Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop, Swaffields, Tarporley or on the door.

Sunday 13th January

The Parish Church of St Alban sees Tattenhall Music Society bringing in the New Year with the return of ‘Roberto Carillo-Garcia and Friends’ at 6.30pm. He is joined by his wife, oboist Rachael Clegg and pianist, Gemma Beeson. Tickets are £12 (18 years and under are free) and are on sale at Tattenhall News and Tattenhall Post Office. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

Tiverton District Garden Club

Tuesday 4th December, 7.30pm at Tiverton Village Hall, Huxley Lane, just off A49, park in laybys. Mrs Sue Clarke is coming to tell us all about Margery Fish, renowned gardener and author from the 20th century, most famous for her work at the beautiful gardens at East Lambourne Manor. The talk will be followed by Seasonal Refreshments, with wine (of course!). Entry £3 (members and visitors), including raffle and refreshments. All are welcome.

 

Kelsall WI

During the October meeting, Joyce Grenfell was brought to life for members with a talk, readings and a performance to remind members of this amazing and talented actress. The AGM was dealt with competently with annual reports by the President, Treasurer and the Secretary all well received by the members and the evening was completed with an excellent cake icing demonstration by a talented member. Christmas plans are well in hand with our December meeting being a festive meal at a local hostelry and the members will enjoy a good night. The New Year opens with a coffee morning at a member’s home so why not join us as you will be made very welcome.  We meet in the Methodist Church school room at 7.30 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month.

 

Peckforton and Beeston WI

Our November AGM went well and we enjoyed a delicious supper provided by Alison’s Kitchen.  Our next hall meeting will be on 5th December when Judy Popley will talk about Stately Homes, estate buildings and their legacy.  We then look forward to our Christmas Party and New Year’s Lunch followed by our first hall meeting of 2019 on 6th February when Mark Powell’s talk will be entitled ‘Making a Difference – MAD’.  We meet in Peckforton Village Hall on most first Wednesdays of the month and are delighted to welcome visitors.  Margaret Ellis, 01829 261898.
Tarporley WI

We invite you to join us on Wednesday 5th December, when Jo Comerie of Cheshire Cut Flower Farm will show us how to make a Christmas Wreath which can also double up as a table centrepiece.  Jo is kindly donating her arrangement so there will be an opportunity to win it in the raffle!  She will bring a selection of wreaths and arrangements for us to buy if we wish. We will also be celebrating with some wine and festive nibbles!
Our 2019 programme is now finalised, and members can renew for just £42 for the whole of the year.  We meet in the Done Room behind St. Helen’s Church.   Doors open at 7:30 for 7:45pm.  Bring a friend – your first meeting is free!  £1 donation for refreshments.
