A group of students from Tarporley High School have returned from an expedition to Borneo where did invaluable work to help local communities.
They worked on the development of a children’s community centre, which involved clearing trenches and levelling the floor. In the same village, they decorated a kindergarten.
They also replaced the pipework to help the water supply into a village, put up an eco-toilet and also helped to reseed part of a rain forest by planting over 700 trees.
Student Tommy Gordon said: “Overall, it was an amazing experience. I have learnt so much about how other cultures live, about how much we can damage the planet and what we can all do, in our small way to help. I have also learnt much about myself too!”
