Peckforton and Beeston WI

Our December meeting was addressed by Keith Birkett who took us on a journey from the small beginnings of a corner shop in 1887 to the ultra modern establishment that is Roberts Bakery with its landmark cooling towers, situated alongside the Northwich By Pass.  A truly family affair making
various breads and speciality products which has expanded gradually over the years into an internationally known company but is also heavily involved in community matters, including providing tours of the factory and taking bakery workshops into local schools and even as far away as Kenya.  It was a most enjoyable and informative talk, much enhanced by the samples given away
at the end!!  We are now preparing for our Christmas Party and New Year’s lunch in January which will begin another interesting programme of events for 2017 to which we would welcome any visitors or new members.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 4th January, at 7:30pm in the Done Room behind St. Helen’s Church. This month we will be ‘Getting Crafty’!  Come and see demonstrations of different crafts, and try your hand – you might learn a whole new skill! This is a very social event, we will have a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Bring a friend, the first meeting is free!  £5 for non-members.  Bring a torch as it’s dark! We have an exciting programme of activities planned for the New Year, always involving fun and friendships.  A warm welcome awaits you.
