Tarporley Parish Council

High Street Parking Initiative

The Parish Council have circulated a leaflet to every home about proposals to try and improve the High Street parking situation.  There will be a consultation event on Saturday 5th November 9.30am -1pm at The Community Centre to allow residents and businesses to comment and to view the plans.  The proposals include Time Limited Parking.

Outdoor Sports and Leisure Land at Brook Road

The reserved matters Planning Application for the Brook Road land was submitted by the Parish Council on 3rd October. The submission includes the full range of potential development on site but the proposals will need phasing due to the available funding.  Subject to funding, the first phase will include establishing access, car parking, drainage/levelling and seeding the pitch and to establishing the players changing facilities.  It is hoped to have a decision by late December.

Christmas Lights

The Christmas lights display in the High Street will be put up as usual in the last week of November ready for the switch on event on Friday 2nd December.

41 Club will be contacting businesses about putting up the trees with lights on the shop fronts on Saturday 26th November.

Tarporley Primary School Consultation

The first of many steps to increase the size of our Primary School has now been undertaken, with CWaC undertaking an initial consultation about their proposal to expand the capacity of the school from 210 places to 315 by September 2018. This will mean a 1.5 class intake, instead of the current 1 class. Assuming the Director of Education agrees to this proposal, then this month (November)  Public Notices will be displayed in the press, at the school and on the CWaC web site informing people how they can submit any comments or objections. Only sometime after that will the planning application be made and it is then that we will all have a chance to view the re-design of the existing school buildings and the design of new ones.

t-speedwatch-oct-2016Tarporley Speed Management Scheme

Look out for smiley SID. A new Speed Management Scheme has started in Tarporley.  Volunteers have been trained by Cheshire West and Chester Council Highways Team on how to operate the speed indicator device (SID) and are now taking to the streets.  The device is used to inform drivers of their current speed and will be used on Utkinton Road, Walkers Lane, Brook and Bowmere Road plus Cobblers Cross.  Other roads within the village are being assessed for suitability for this scheme.  The Parish Council are looking for extra volunteers to help with the scheme so if you have a spare hour or two a week and would like to get involved, please email Abigail at projects@tarporley.org.uk
