The bridge on Gatesheath Lane and Newton Lane on the north side of Tattenhall is to have major maintenance work, resulting in a six week closure.
Work begins on 23rd February preventing access for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
The maintenance work to the bridge will involve digging up the road, casting a reinforced concrete slab then waterproofing and resurfacing. Work will be carried out to the brick parapets.
Work beneath the bridge will involve scaffolding and some of the steel beams will be replaced and the other steel beams painted. Brickwork will also be re-pointed. These works are necessary in order to maintain the bridge in a good condition.
Local Councillor Mike Jones said: “This Council investment will conserve this important local route.
“These works have been planned in order to avoid the busiest times for local businesses and we would like to thank them for their forbearance.”
During the road closure, there will be two diversion routes in place. Cars and small vans will be diverted through Tattenhall village, and vehicles over three tonnes will be diverted along the A41 via Quarry Lane, Long Lane and Red Lane.
