The War Memorial Hall, Duddon, will be holding a Bingo evening, entry is free and refreshments will be available plus a raffle. All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the Hall.

Saturday 14th March

Grand Book Sale at Huxley Village Hall, 10am to 4pm. There will be over 2,000 books on sale covering both fact and fiction.  Proceeds will split between Tarporley Hospital and the Huxley and Hargrave village halls.  We would like to thank those who have made this sale possible by generously donating books. Should you still have books that you would like to donate would you please contact Les Pritchard on 01829 781321.  Can we also thank those who came to our sale last September which raised over £1,500 which went to local good causes.




Tiverton District Garden Club

Tuesday 3rd February at 7.30pm (note new time), Tiverton Village Hall, Huxley Lane (just off A49)

Prepare to enter our Spring and Autumn Shows this year with confidence by getting some handy hints from one of our Judges, Mr Bob Jones, on “How to win at Shows with all that grows”.

Entry £1.50 (members), £2 (visitors) including raffle and refreshments. All are welcome.

Tarporley WI

Our next monthly meeting is on Wednesday 4th February at 8pm in our new venue, the Done Room, situated behind St. Helen’s Parish Church. This month our guest speaker is Katie Kirkup, Musical Director of Decibellas, who will be giving a talk called ‘Finding your Voice’.

Our membership is growing, and since our first meeting last October we have enjoyed Belly Dancing on Bonfire Night with Rosie Sedgwick from the Sirocco Academy of Egyptian Dance, making a Christmas wreath and table decoration with Gaynor Jones from the Flower Shop in Tarporley, and this week we learnt about Fitness and Nutrition in the Real World with Dan Jones from Instinct Wellness.

All are welcome to join our friendly and flourishing group.
Kelsall Flower Club

On Wednesday 18th February, 7.30pm, there will be a flower arranging demonstration at Methodist Church School Room.  Visitors welcome


Peckforton and Beeston WI

We enjoyed an excellent Christmas lunch in December at Peckforton Village Hall with delicious food, fun and entertainment and are now looking forward to our New Year lunch at The Nag’s Head, Haughton and on to the WI 100th Anniversary Year and more exciting speakers. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at Peckforton Village Hall at 7.30pm and would welcome any new members/visitors and their ideas for future activities, do join us. Tarporley U3A

Our next Monthly meeting will be held on 22nd January . The Speaker will be Mr Ken Clark and the title of his talk will be “The Story of Astronomy and Backyard Astronomy “. This meeting will be held at 10pm in Tarporley Community Hall commencing at 10am with coffee followed by the talk at 10.30 Visitors welcome.


Tattenhall Gardening Society

Our next illustrated talk by Carol Madden will take place on Wednesday 11th February at 7.45pm in the Barbour Institute entitled ‘A SEED FOR THOUGHT’.

Carol will be showing us various techniques for getting the best from growing plants from seed and the timing is perfect for getting some tips for the start of the new season. And there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions so if your cosmos seedlings always collapse, your shallots are a shambles or your runners rot, now is your chance to find out what you should be doing.

Visitors are always welcome to attend the meetings. Yearly membership costs £12 for single and £17 for joint membership. Meeting Visitors £3, Tattenhall Allotment Association members £2.
