Olivia becomes sheriff for the day

Tarporley Sixth Form College student, Olivia Gregory, Year 12, was nominated to represent Cheshire West and in the national ‘Takeover Day’ initiative in November and was given the honour of shadowing the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Susan Sellers in her duties.

The day started at Winsford Police HQ with Mark Watson, Cheshire Crimebeat Co-ordinator with an introduction to the Cheshire Crimebeat charity, which sponsors young people to undertake projects in their community and is supported by both the High Sheriff and the Cheshire Constabulary.

Then they set off to visit the Just Drop-In youth information and advice centre in Macclesfield. Just Drop-In offers support, guidance, advocacy and counselling to young people in Macclesfield. Trained volunteers and qualified counsellors work at the centre and are committed to helping young people to recognise and reach their full potential.
