Pupils choose new road names

Five children from Tarporley CE Primary School have created their own piece of history – by choosing the names of five new roads in the village.
Sandstone Lane, Plough Close, Dairy Grove, Farmers Lane and Brook End Drive are being created on a former school site at Brook Road in Tarporley.
The Street Name and Numbering team from Cheshire West and Chester Council asked the school if pupils wanted to be involved in naming the new roads and a competition took place.
Certificates were sent to ten children as a thank you, including the five winners by the Council’s Street Name and numbering department.
The winners were India, Abigail, Jack, Oliver and Darcy.
Headteacher Kerry Forrester said: “You can imagine their pure delight when we heard that five of the children’s suggestions had been successfully selected.
“Our children here at Tarporley Church of England Primary School are very proud of their village and I am very proud of the enthusiastic way they embraced such an opportunity and took it to their hearts.”
Local Tarporley Cllr Eveleigh Moore Dutton said: “I am pleased that future generations of Tarporley residents have played their part in naming a part of the Tarporley of the future.
The naming was done in association with builders Taylor Wimpey.
