Another strong Tarporley Karting Team (TKT) took part in the latest National Schools Karting event at Fulbeck in Lincolnshire on 5th October. Thankfully the drivers were treated to warm and dry conditions, although the track presented a few challenges with its uneven surface and tight chicanes.
As usual there were seven different classes of competition, ranging from novice drivers aged 10 to 12 in low powered Karts to drivers aged up to 17 years old in higher powered TKM and Rotax engine Karts. In Class 7 TKM, where competitors compete in Karts with 100cc engines, TKT drivers fared well. From a field of 24 Lee Whittingham (pictured) took 1st place after a series of excellent drives in the 4 heats, whilst James Mills did well to finish 2nd , other TKT drivers in the top were Tom Evans who was 5th, Reece Griffiths who was 7th and Henry Kirby who was 10th.
In Class 14, which is for 85cc two stroke Raket engines, the competition was very exciting and TKT’s Kurt Roberts drove superbly to finish 2nd from a field of 10 drivers, congratulations also to Theo Hesketh who finished 3rd overall.
